SAN FRANCISCO – In time, the Giants will move Mark Melancon back to the ninth inning. You don’t pay someone $62 million to anchor a bullpen only to hand them a deck swab.
But for now, Melancon will continue to yield the closer role to Sam Dyson – even though Giants manager Bruce Bochy conceded that Melancon is probably ready to handle those duties again.
“I think he’s ready,” Bochy said. “He can pitch the ninth now. But he’s find where he’s at. We’ve talked about it and he’s been a big help there (in the seventh).
