Giants drop 6th straight after 8th-inning error

NEW YORK -- The San Francisco Giants' losing streak reached a season-high six games Friday night as the National League West leaders endured an eighth-inning collapse in a 3-2 setback against the New York Yankees.

With the score tied, 2-2, Chase Headley's infield single, a dribbler toward third base that didn't quite roll foul, launched the Yankees' winning rally against rookie left-hander Josh Osich (1-2), who then walked Mark Teixeira. Austin Romine tapped a grounder to shortstop Brandon Crawford, who stepped on second base before throwing to first base in hopes of recording a double play.
