First baseman Brandon Belt, who left the Giants’ 4-0 win over Philadelphia on Friday night after two innings, had his appendix removed later that evening, the team announced Saturday morning.

The Giants say Belt should be released from the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Belt is hitting .307 and leads the Giants in home runs (11), RBIs (31) and on-base percentage (.403).

The Giants figure to put Belt on the 10-day disabled list and make a corresponding move before Saturday night’s game against the Phillies.
