Giants, Belt avoid arbitration, agree on one-year deal

SAN FRANCISCO -- For the second time in three years, the Giants and Brandon Belt came within minutes of entering an arbitration hearing before agreeing to terms on a one-year contract.

Belt will receive a $6.2 million salary, which is $200,000 less than the midpoint of the figures that he and the club exchanged last month.Belt had filed at $7.5 million while the Giants had filed at $5.3 million.
