SAN FRANCISCO -- Marlon Byrd accomplished a lot with one third-inning swing Friday night against St. Louis right-hander Michael Wacha at AT&T Park.
Byrd belted the eighth grand slam for the Giants this season, giving them a 4-0 lead. It established a franchise record, eclipsing the seven amassed by the club in 1951, 1954, 1970, 1998 and 2000. Only Thursday, Kelby Tomlinson's grand slam pulled this year's team into that group.
