WASHINGTON - Starter Jake Peavy made a triumphant return Friday night after rehabbing his back and hip for 2 ½ months. Unfortunately for the Giants as a team, "triumph" is not in their vocabulary on this trip.
Peavy carried a two-hit shutout into the seventh inning in his first start since April 17, but his lone big mistake, a two-run Clint Robinson homer, sent the Giants to a 2-1 loss, their fourth in four games on this journey.
The Giants dropped their first game at Nationals Park since their 18-inning, Game 2 win in last year's Division Series.
