Instant Replay: Bumgarner rocked, Giants lose to Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas — Before the first game of what promises to be a hot and tiring 10-game road trip, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he would limit the workloads of his starting pitchers. Unfortunately, Bochy had to get his bullpen loose in the early innings Friday for a much different reason.

The pen started stirring in the second inning at Globe Life Park after Madison Bumgarner gave up a sixth run. The big left-hander ultimately made it through seven but the Giants wouldn’t recover from the rough start, falling 6-3 to the Texas Rangers.

The Giants scored in the top half of the first but Bumgarner gave up a two-run homer to Adrian Beltre in the bottom of the inning.
