The Giatns acquired starting pitcher Mike Leake from the Cincinnati Reds for two minor-leaguers, corner infielder Adam Duvall and pitching prospect Keury Mella.
On the eve of the trade deadline, the Giants got their wish, a proven starter who could deepen a rotation behind Madison Bumgarner. He’s not Cole Hamels or David Price, but he’s 27 and is 9-5 with a 3.56 ERA in 21 starts, including 4-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his last four starts.
Leake, who was scouted by the Giants’ Brian Sabean, has pitched at least seven innings in 11 starts, and his 136 2/3 innings rank fifth in the league.
