Giants scratch Joe Panik from lineup with concussion-like symptoms

Panik was hit in the helmet by a pitch June 18 at Tampa Bay

Bruce Bochy said Panik passed three days of concussion tests

Panik reported symptoms on Monday night

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants were concerned enough about Joe Panik after he took a pitch to the head in Tampa Bay that they put him through three days of concussion tests.

Panik passed those tests, manager Bruce Bochy said. But 10 days after the initial beaning, the second baseman reported feeling concussion-like symptoms on Monday night.

The Giants scratched Panik from their lineup Tuesday, and he was set to undergo further tests to determine whether he will need to go on the 7-day concussion DL.
