Giants pregame: Crawford’s back, others in waiting

There was a bit of good news before tonight’s Giants-Dodgers game when shorstop Brandon Crawford, able to swing the bat without discomfort, returned to the starting lineup. The rest of the news wasn’t so encouraging.

Joe Panik, schedule to play a rehab game for Sacramento tomorrow night, will stay with the club through the Dodger series and won’t get into a game until Thursday. “He hasn’t had a setback, he just feels he needs another day or two with us, doing baseball activities,” manager Bruce Bochy said.

Panik was out on the field at Dodger Stadium, getting his arm loose, “and that’s great to see,” said general manager Bobby Evans.
