Sophomore forward Nate Renfro has been named captain for USF's men's basketball team for the 2016-17 season, head coach Kyle Smith announced today.
Renfro, a native of Tucson, Ariz., was a unanimous selection for this honor in a vote of the players and coaching staff.
"Nate embodies everything the USF basketball program strives for," said Smith. "He has an outstanding attitude, work ethic and excels in the classroom as well as in the community. We could not be more proud to have someone of such high character represent this historic program."
USF opens the 2016-17 season this Friday night against Illinois-Chicago.
