Chung Advances to Cal Am Quarterfinals

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco soon-to-be senior Henry Chung advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 106th California Amateur Championship after knocking off Oregon's Norman Xiong on Thursday at The Olympic Club.

Xiong entered the championship week heavily decorated as a member of the victorious US team in the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup. He can also boast recognition as the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award, Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and 2017 Division I Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year semifinalist, but Chung was undaunted in his pursuit of advancing.

"Henry played fantastic today in every facet of the game," noted USF head coach and Chung's Thursday caddy Jack Kennedy.
