Should 49ers sign Matt Forte?

With the Chicago Bears electing not to re-sign veteran running back Matt Forte on Friday another running back is looking for a new home. Matt Forte has had an impressive career with five 1,000-yard seasons (and one 997 yard season) in his eight years in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus.

While Forte is likely to have numerous suitors, the San Francisco 49ers should also take a look at him. Yes, Carlos Hyde is the undisputed lead back for the 49ers and will continue to be in that role, but Hyde has struggled with injuries the past two seasons and new offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins tends to prefer a “running back by committee” approach.
