History-making Super Bowl official Terry Killens was once a 49ers linebacker

While there will be plenty of former 49ers players in attendance to watch San Francisco take on Kansas City in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11, only one will be in the middle of the action on the playing field at Allegiant Stadium, having traded in his red and gold uniform for one with black and white vertical stripes.

Former 49ers linebacker Terry Killens will officiate the first Super Bowl of his post-playing career under veteran referee Bill Vinovich. Killens was mostly a special teams player throughout his time in the NFL, spending five seasons with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans from 1996 to 2000.
