After tumbling from starter to third-stringer, 49ers cornerback Kennth Acker was traded to the Chiefs for a conditional draft pick.
The 49ers received a 2018 seventh-round pick, according to ESPN. Acker became expendable on a roster that includes plenty of capable cornerbacks. A 2014 sixth-round pick, Acker is one seven cornerbacks the 49ers have drafted in the past three years. The other six corners remain on the roster.
“We feel like we’ve got some depth at the cornerback position and felt like it was a positive for him,” head coach Chip Kelly said.
