The 49ers on Friday placed wide receiver Torrey Smith on season-ending injured reserve due to a concussion he sustained two weeks ago against the New York Jets.
Smith becomes the 17th player currently on the 49ers' injured-reserve list and the 18th player on whom the 49ers have used that designation. The 49ers placed nose tackle Ian Williams on injured reserve at the opening of training camp, then released him off IR on Oct. 27 with an injury settlement.
