49ers’ DeForest Buckner finally vindicated with 2019 Pro Bowl nod

Well, it’s about time.

San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle DeForest Buckner should have made the 2018 Pro Bowl after a stellar 2017 season. And he should have been named a starter after setting career numbers last year, too.

Instead, Buckner was named as an alternate — an honor, but not necessarily a guarantee to get into the NFL’s all-star game.

Until now.

Buckner got the nod Tuesday afternoon, replacing Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who can’t participate due to injury, announced in a press release on the 49ers website.
