San Francisco 49ers: 4 Possible Cap-Cuts For The 49ers Ft. Jerick McKinnon & Tevin Coleman

The San Francisco 49ers have roughly $13.1 MM in salary cap space heading into the 2020 NFL season. With decisions to make about Arik Armstead, Jimmie Ward and Emmanuel Sanders, John Lynch will need to get creative to save money against the cap. As such, there are some players the 49ers could cut including Tevin Coleman, Jaquiski Tartt, Marquise Goodwin and Jerick McKinnon. The Niners could look to upgrade in the NFL Free Agency or the NFL Draft while at the same saving money. Potential 49ers Cap Cuts are yearly 49ers rumors, but the list isn’t as long as it was in recent years. There are some names on this list that will surprise you like Tevin Coleman. However, the young running back saw his production decrease with the emergence of Raheem Mostert as the true #1 running back. Will the 49ers make a shocking move and cut Coleman? Jaquiski Tartt is another cap-cut candidate for the 49ers. Despite playing 65.5% of the snaps at strong safety last season, there wasn’t a huge drop off when 6th-round pick Marcell Harris filled in. The Niners could look to cut ties with Tartt and upgrade in the NFL draft.

Jerick McKinnon seems like the most likely cap cut for the 49ers this offseason. McKinnon has not played a down in over two seasons and despite being healthy this upcoming season, Mckinnon is costing the 49ers way too much money to warrant keeping him. GM John Lynch spoke to the media at the NFL Combine, explaining the team is working to restructure his deal.
