Wouldn’t it be weird if the 49ers and Falcons unofficially traded Chip Kelly for Kyle Shanahan?
Not like the famous Jon Gruden-for-draft picks exchange the Raiders pulled in 2002, of course, since the 49ers already dismissed Kelly.
But Kelly is rumored as a candidate for the Falcons’ offensive coordinator opening if Shanahan leaves that position to take the 49ers head coaching job, as our 49ers reporter Cam Inman wrote is expected.
Kelly will interview with the Falcons, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, after Super Bowl LI.
The one-and-done 49ers coach also interviewed with the Jaguars, though Jacksonville eventually hired Nathaniel Hackett to be offensive coordinator.
