49ers Rumors: 49ers Meet With Justin Jefferson & Jalen Reagor At NFL Combine + Deforest Buckner Declines $60MM Deal?

49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch are in Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine and we’ve got the latest 49ers news and rumors surrounding the combine, including meeting with LSU WR Justin Jefferson and TCU wide out Jalen Reagor. Could the Niners spend the #31 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on a wide receiver? And if they do, what does the future hold for Emmanuel Sanders? 49ers Report host Thomas Mott discusses 49ers combine news, Jimmy Garoppolo and DeForest Buckner reportedly turning down a $60 million extension.

Jimmy Garoppolo has been under fire since the Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. GM John Lynch spoke to the media at the NFL Combine on Tuesday and gave an update on Jimmy Garoppolo being the starting QB of the future for the 49ers. Lynch did not mince words and gave a rave review of the young 49er quarterback. Lynch went as far to say that Jimmy G has not even reached his ceiling as a QB. That’s good news for 49ers fans and Garoppolo alike.

DeForest Buckner and Jerick McKinnon are also discussed IN THE VIDEO ABOVE AND BELOW. During Lynch’s interview, he revealed that McKinnon was medically cleared at the end of the 2019 season after missing both the 2018 and 2019 season with an ACL injury. McKinnon and his agents are expected to meet with the 49ers and discuss a restructuring of his deal. As it sits right now, Jerick is due $8.55MM and the 49ers could save $4MM by cutting him. Lynch said he would like to have McKinnon back.

Speaking of contracts, did DeForest Buckner turn down an offer for a $60MM contract extension? You shouldn’t believe everything you see on the internet, according to Buckner. Now, it’s still hard to know if Buckner is disputing the entire report of an extension offer or just the price point. Either way, he’s signed through 2021 but the Niners could look to sign him early as a way to save some money down the road. Other upcoming contracts include George Kittle, Arik Armstead, Jimmie Ward and Emmanuel Sanders.
