49ers Grades vs. Chargers: CJ Beathard Solid In NFL Preseason Week 4

The San Francisco 49ers fell to 3-1 in the 2019 NFL preseason after a 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday night.

As traditional across the NFL, no starters played for either team as the 3rd and 4th string at the back-end of the rosters took their last opportunities to grab a roster spot. CJ Beathard finished 6/9 for 58 yards with 1 TD in first half work Thursday, earning himself an A- grade from Thomas Mott.

In the video above and below, Mott breaks down his preseason week 4 grades for the 49ers on our exclusive San Francisco 49ers YouTube channel.

Several wide receivers got some work in on Thursday as well, as Kendrick Bourne hauled in a 21-yard touchdown from Beathard in the 2nd quarter. Deebo Samuel also had 2 catches for 16 yards.  Jeff Wilson carried the load in the backfield, racking up 20 carries for 100 yards and 1 touchdown.  However, it wasn’t enough as the Chargers scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:17 left in the 4th quarter to get LA it’s only preseason win of 2019.
