Ian Rapoport, citing several sources with knowledge of the team’s thinking, reports that the 49ers are still “strongly considering” a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick.
Rapoport mentions that it would come as somewhat of a surprise to see San Francisco take a quarterback after they signed both Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley in free agency and could pursue Kirk Cousins next year.
Even so, Rapoport says that sources who know new 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan well insist UNC QB Mitch Trubisky would be the best fit for his offense.
