49ers Rumors: 49ers pursued trade for Terrelle Pryor

In today's edition of 49ers rumors, the San Francisco 49ers pursued a trade for former Oakland Raiders starting quarterback Terrelle Pryor, competing with the Seahawks who eventually landed him on Monday.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk says multiple sources confirmed that the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks were in a bidding war for Pryor's services.

"It makes sense that the 49ers and Seahawks, both low on the waiver priority list, would pursue Pryor via trade.  They had little shot at him if he had been waived," says Florio in his post on Monday night.

The Seahawks would legitimately have had no chance to land Terrelle Pryor if the Raiders were to have waived him. As Florio states, the Seahawks will on the bottom of the waiver priority list for the rest of the offseason through the first few weeks of the 2014 NFL season.

If the 49ers were to have secured Pryor via trade, it is most likely that they would have converted him to a skill position such as tight end -- in order to utilize his athleticism and top-tier speed.
