Q&A: Padres right-hander Paul Clemens

Paul Clemens, a 28-year-old right-hander claimed off waivers from the Marlins last month, made his debut in the Padres rotation this week. Before that, the former seventh-round pick set aside time to talk about the opportunity he has with his third big-league team, the go-to pitch he’s only beginning to learn about and just what Padres scouts are seeing in Marlins pitchers this year.

Q: You’ve been traded, released and waived over the years. What does it mean to have this opportunity with the Padres.

A: Earlier in my career, when I was 22, 23, 24, I just wanted to come up and have a Luis Perdomo entrance to the big leagues.
