Padres lose fourth straight, fall to Rays

Padres starter Edwin Jackson lasted just four innings and allowed eight runs on nine hits. Carlos Villanueva allowed seven runs in four innings of relief. The Rays won their third straight game while the Padres lost their fourth straight.

Blake Snell went five innings for the Rays and allowed just one run for the win, despite laboring through 95 pitches.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Escape artist: Snell was never cruising in his winning effort on Tuesday. But he hit his biggest bump in the road in the fourth inning when he walked in a run with one out, then had a 3-2 count on Wil Myers.
