POWAY — At the conclusion of a charity concert held Friday night to raise funds for a Tony Gwynn memorial to be erected at Lake Poway, the design of the 10-foot-tall bronze statue was revealed.

The city wanted to depict Tony Gwynn, a Poway resident for nearly 30 years, as a father, neighbor and good man, not just a baseball legend. Texas artist Seth Vandable thinks the statue can be finished in about eight months.
