Of the 46 teammates Clayton Richard played with at one time or another during 2013, only three are still with the Padres. All three — Alexi Amarista, Robbie Erlin and Tyson Ross — are currently on the disabled list.
Saturday, Richard walked into the home clubhouse at Petco Park, a familiar place containing more than a few unfamiliar faces. Yet the left-hander looked and sounded at ease, almost as if he'd never left.
"There’s a lot of change. There’s definitely similarities," said Richard, who earlier in the day had signed with San Diego, where he previously played five seasons.
