Dodgers' Grandal placed on concussion DL (The Associated Press)

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers placed catcher Yasmani Grandal on the seven-day concussion disabled list Saturday and called up Austin Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City to serve as A.J. Ellis' backup.

Grandal, who came to the Dodgers from San Diego in December in the Matt Kemp trade, was taken out of Friday night's 2-1 victory over the Padres after four innings for precautionary reasons. He was struck on the right side of the head by the follow-through of Yangervis Solarte's bat in the third inning, then took a foul tip off the mask by Kemp in the fourth.
