Spurs’ Aldridge ready to lead by example

SAN ANTONIO – While Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are rushing help fill the gigantic leadership void left by Tim Duncan’s retirement, Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge is taking a more organic approach.

Asked at media day Monday if he was ready to take on a bigger leadership role, Aldridge said, “Just let what happens happen naturally. I was a leader in Portland. If it happens here, it does. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said he is OK with Parker and Ginobili being labeled the club’s leaders, but he made it clear he would also like to see Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard step up and be more vocal.
