MORAGA, Calif. — Just days after the 2022 Cross Country season began in style for a host of Saint Mary's runners, Sam Tyas has been named the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week.
The men's 8k race began the proceedings in Golden Gate Park with Saint Mary's finishing fourth overall out of 14 teams. The Gaels had three runners inside the top 25 through the 6k averaging a 12:33 time. Tyas ran a solid race throughout, finishing 7th overall in a time of 25:12.3 in the 8k race. He was one of two Gaels to place inside the top-10, with his time being tops among all SMC runners.
