SAN DIEGO — In its first match of the road swing, the Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team battled but fell in a tough decision to San Diego State, 6-1.
The Gaels (3-4) fell in the 1-0 deficit after the Aztecs claimed the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 3. Nash Vollenweider and Damon Kesaris displayed a tough presence in the top doubles action, forcing big time points and exciting rallies.
First year player Kesaris claimed an impressive and strong win in the No. 2 spot.
“Damon played really well today,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Greg Kennett.
