PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Freshman Eduardo Carrete continues to pace himself atop the leaderboard, as the Saint Mary’s golf team made a charge on the second day of the Saint Mary’s Invitational at a tough Poppy Hills Golf Course.
With the cold air and wind forcing the course to play longer than what the yardage indicates, high scores became a reality for parts of the field.
The Gaels shot 287 in today’s round to finish at 14-over (583) for the tournament. Defending champion San Diego State also made a jump, as the Aztecs lead the field after shooting a field- low 280 in the second round (579, +11).
