STANFORD, Calif. — For the second time this season the Saint Mary’s beach volleyball team soundly defeated Stanford on its own home court, beating the Cardinal 4-1 Sunday as part of an undefeated day two of the Stanford Invitational at the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium.
The Gaels (10-3) also beat the Cardinal (5-8), 4-1, on March 6 in the season-opening version of the Stanford Tournament. As with the first time they topped Stanford, the Gaels swept through the No. 1 through 4 pairs all in two games. Three Saint Mary’s pairs were undefeated on the day, as the Gaels also beat Oregon (2-7), 3-2.
