Trailing 94-76 with 5:16 remaining, Sunday’s contest seemed all but over through 43 minutes in Los Angeles. No team had fought back from an 18-point disadvantage in the final five minutes of a contest this season. And in the past 20 years, teams holding such a lead were 6,746-1 entering Sunday.
Sacramento was poised to be the second to earn a victory in that two-decades long span.
The Kings held the Clippers to just three points in the contest’s final five minutes. They went on a 22-3 run that earned them the narrow one-point victory.
It didn’t come easy.
