'Taboo' decision to pass on NFL frees Rutgers' Julian Pinnix-Odrick to 'endless possibilities'

PISCATAWAY -- Even with an NFL player for an older brother, Julian Pinnix-Odrick grew up mostly idolizing people who displayed passion in their ordinary jobs.

In pursuit of discovering that same feeling, Pinnix-Odrick is giving up something that fueled him for the last two decades: The 2016 Rutgers co-captain is retiring from football without pursuing the NFL.

"We shouldn't let the game put us in a box where we feel as though we owe everything to it and it's holding everything that's in us," Pinnix-Odrick exclusively told NJ Advance Media.
