Already graduated with a Bachelor's degree in human resources management/personnel administration, Derrick Nelson on Wednesday was recognized for his efforts beyond football.
The Rutgers football center was chosen as one of 165 nominees for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which honors college football players who have made a "commitment to service and enriching the lives of others.''
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Good Works Team pays tribute to student-athletes who have dedicated countless hours towards helping others. To be considered for the Good Works Team, a player must be involved in charitable work and maintain a strong academic standing.
