Kyle Flood investigation timeline: What the Rutgers coach said vs. what he did

PISCATAWAY – The first time that Rutgers football coach Kyle Flood addressed reports that Nadir Barnwell might be academically ineligible during the 2015 season, he said, “those final decisions really don’t get made until the end of the summer session.”

In truth, Flood first was informed by a Rutgers academic advisor more than week earlier, on May 20, that his top cornerback would be ineligible, according to the results of a school investigation into the extent of Flood’s impermissible contact with a teacher in the Mason Gross School of Arts.

Flood also was emailed a reminder of his player’s ineligibility May 28, the same day he spoke to reporters about it during a ‘R’ B1G Tour event.
