Cubs Fan Drives From NC To Indiana To Watch Game 7 At Father’s Grave

Wayne Williams made a pact with his dad that when the Cubs finally won the World Series, they would listen to the game together.

So on Wednesday Williams drove the 600 miles from North Carolina to Indiana, set up a chair at a cemetery and fulfilled his promise. Williams’ father, also named Wayne Williams, was a World War II veteran who died in 1980. The son listened to the Cubs win right at his father’s graveside.

“I think it was because when he was at boot camp at Great Lakes,” William said of the reason his father because a Cubs fan.
