‘Bush Push’ Lifts USC Over ND in 2005

Ten years ago, USC and Notre Dame played one of the greatest games in their storied rivalry. It featured the “Bush Push,” one of the most memorable finishes to a game in college football history.

Trailing 31-28 with the ball on the Irish goal line and seconds left, Pete Carroll appeared to call for a spike for USC in order to kick the gimme field goal and send the game to overtime.

It was a decoy, however, as QB Matt Leinart tried sneaking it in for the game-winning score. Originally stuffed by a swarm of Notre Dame defenders, RB Reggie Bush pushed him into the end zone for the touchdown.
