‘Fear for your life’: Electric scooters are a hit in Salt Lake City, but sidewalk ridership may contribute to injuries

The first happened near 300 South between Main Street and West Temple, when a scooter rider in the sidewalk hit into a woman, almost knocking her over and scraping up her leg. The second happened in front of Taqueria 27, a Mexican restaurant on 200 South, when a man on a scooter hit a bump on the sidewalk and fell to the ground, grazing the skin off his legs.

“You walk outside and suddenly you feel like you’re taking your life in your hands,” said Antognini, 56, who advised pedestrians to practice awareness “not only for their own safety but for the safety of others.
