Sergio Cordova came to RSL via the relationship of mutual ownership with Augsburg in Germany. He was a promising young player that had done extremely well in youth international competition and needed a bit of a refresh scoring just seven goals in three years at Augsburg.

RSL offered him that opportunity and took a calculated risk on the 6’2” forward. He took a while to acclimate to RSL, Major League Soccer, and the United States. He had a few sporadic goals but his body language often showed discontentment or frustration. The dynamic he was starting to form with Bobby Wood changed things as well when Wood went out for the season due to injury.
