Providence College today announced plans for a new, $37.5-million athletics center, attached to Alumni Hall, which will include a basketball practice facility as well as additional space for athletics department activities.
The Ruane Friar Development Center is named after former PC board of trustees chairman Michael A. Ruane and his wife, Elizabeth, whose gift to the college made the project possible.
The new building has been discussed for more than a decade as schools around the country have built training facilities specifically for basketball, separate from their playing arenas.
