Julian Gressel of Providence College was taken as the eighth overall pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Atlanta United FC on Friday.
Gressel, of Germany, led the Friars with 15 goals and helped PC reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament last season, in which Providence fell to North Carolina, 1-0, in overtime.
