PC 6, UMass 2: Walman scores twice for Friars

AMHERST, Mass. -- Tenth-ranked Providence College scored three times in the first 7:57 and rolled to a 6-2 win over Massachusetts on Friday night.

Jake Walman led the way for the Friars with two goals and an assist. Hayden Hawkey stopped 29 shots.

It was the 14th loss in a row and the 19th in 20 games for UMass (5-26-2 overall, 2-18-1 in Hockey East). Providence is 19-9-5 overall and 11-7-3 in Hockey East.

Shane Kavanagh opened the scoring for PC at 3:28 of the first period, assisted by Conor MacPhee.

Spenser Young doubled the lead with a goal at 6:45.
