Cole Swider cuts college list to four, eliminates Providence

Cole Swider will not be staying home for his college basketball career.

Swider, the St. Andrews’ School shooting forward from Portsmouth, trimmed his list of schools to four on Sunday. He’s now focusing on Duke, Syracuse, Villanova and Xavier.

Swider, who has raised his national profile over the last several months and is regarded as a top 75 recruit in the Class of 2018, was considering several other schools including Providence College. Ed Cooley and his staff had made Swider a priority recruit for more than a year but now face the prospect of playing against the 6-8 shooter at least twice a year if he chooses fellow Big East members Villanova or Xavier.
