Former Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov calls time on 18-year career as he readies himself for a 'second life' in football as a scout and a sports director...with Inter Milan contract coming to an end this summer

Former Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36.

The Serbian international's current deal with Inter Milan expires at the end of June and while sensing that an extension would not be presented to him, the two-time Premier League winner decided the time was right to hang up his boots.

Kolarov announced his retirement and future plans to study at Coverciano - home of the Italian Football Federation - in a statement to ANSA.
