Burnley 1-0 Southampton: Joey Barton powers in late free-kick to continue Clarets' good home record

Joey Barton came off the bench to fire Burnley to another home victory as Southampton's long trip north ended without any reward.

The midfielder hadn't long replaced Dean Marney when he sent a low free-kick from 25 yards into the corner of the net, sparking wild celebrations at Turf Moor.

The result, which continues Burnley's good record there this season, moves them further clear of any relegation fight but prolongs Southampton's recent poor league form.
