Allen Crabbe set for Portland homecoming early in 2017-18 season

The Portland Trail Blazers engaged in just one major move this summer. At the end of July, they offloaded Allen Crabbe’s contract to the Brooklyn Nets.

The trade decreased Portland’s luxury tax payment, but didn’t free up any cap space to sign new players.

Additionally, Pat Connaughton’s contract extension was pushed back until Aug. 31.

If the Blazers choose not to extend, he will join Crabbe (and the traded Tim Quarterman) as the only players not returning this year.

Chances are no team signs Connaughton before the start of the season, and with Quarterman on the fringe of making Houston’s roster, Crabbe may be the only one on a new team.
