Blazers News: Portland Interested In Trade For Nuggets SF Wilson Chandler

According to a report in the Denver Post, the Portland Trail Blazers are one of several teams with interest in Denver Nuggets SF Wilson Chandler.

The Blazers currently sit second in the Western Conference, but they're interested in adding some scoring off the bench. Portland's second unit currently averages 26.9 points per game, putting them 26th out of 30 NBA teams. Coach Terry Stotts knows this team is currently a realistic title contender, but they need to make sure they're as prepared as possible before the stretch run begins.

The 27-year-old Chandler is averaging 14.2 points per game for the Nuggets this season on .417 shooting, and he's also making over 35% of his shots from beyond the arc. The 17-20 Nuggets are starting to face the inevitability of a rebuild, and they signaled that they're willing to trade players for future picks when they sent C Timofey Mozgov to Cleveland last week.

It's unclear what the Blazers would have to give up for Chandler, but it's possible that the team could make a move without parting with any key players. The Nuggets are looking to the future rather than the present, and Portland has plenty of draft picks stocked up they could part with to add another piece to their roster. For a team with very few weaknesses, the opportunity to add to the bench without giving up much of anything is a very tempting prospect for the Blazers...and while nothing is imminent, we'd keep a close eye on Chandler over the next few weeks.
