The Portland Thorns have re-signed defender Emily Menges and midfielder Mana Shim, the team announced Wednesday.
Menges, 24, is coming off her best season in a Thorns’ kit, where she made 20 starts and playing every minute in 2016, earning a NWSL Best XI selection and received her first call-up to the United States Women’s National Team in November.
“Emily was one of the key reasons we had such a great defensive record last season,” said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons in a press release. “She made great progress throughout 2016, and I look forward to supporting her on making big strides again this season.
